We know that managing an aesthetic center is a titanic task. That’s why at Skeyndor we always try to advance the work you do, to the next level, whether that is, offering innovation in formulations and products or even, through the professional area of the web. Supporting you with business management and marketing recommendations that may be of your interest. Today we want to treat one of the main headaches of your day to day: last-minute cancellations. How to help avoid, the common ‘no show’. There is no magic formula to avoid it, but there are techniques that will help to deal with it and reduce the economic impact they entail.

1) Give your client a card to write down appointments. There’s a reason why dentists and hairdressers do this. You are giving a physical reminder, which be available to them if the store it correctly until their next visit. It will also help any potential confusion for any mis-communication, as they have it written down.

2) Create a cancellation policy and print it on the card. Penalizing clients for not showing up is not the best option unless the last-minute resignations are a real problem in your centre. Value it, think of a fair compensation formula and leave it clearly written on the appointment card you give to your clients. So there will be no surprises if it turns out that you decide not to return part of the payment and signal for not having presented without warning 24 hours before, for example.

3) Send a confirmation. Regardless of the card, if you have your client’s email, send an email as a reminder. You can even do it in Google Calendar appointment format or by Whastapp, to receive an alert on your smartphone on the agreed day. Take advantage of this written communication to reiterate your cancellation policy at the end of the message. Who Forewarned is forearmed…

4) Make a reminder call. If you have a way to contact your client directly, do it: a call, an sms or a whatsapp reminder a day or two before the appointment to confirm, will no hurt and it may even them the opportunity to reschedule the visit if it turns out that there has been something unforeseen.

5) Create incentives. Taking advantage of the grid of your previous appointment card, create a program of points or compensation so that, after going to 5 or 10 appointments (or the number that you establish appropriate) give your a client a prize such as a free cream or special discount. This may help someone with a chronic history of cancellations and / or rescheduling.

6) Send a message to reschedule. When a client does not attend her appointment, send her a “we regret that you missed your appointment” or “we missed you today in our center” send a note while giving them the opportunity to reschedule their visit by email. Sometimes, this more impersonal format is more effective than by phone because they do not give any explanation and avoids any uncomfortable conversations.

7) Find out why they have not shown up. Anyway, it would be convenient to call it also, especially if it has not stung with the reprogramming message. Try to find out why they did not go to your center: was there a last minute unforeseen event or was it just laziness or lack of commitment? This information will help you to better know the clientele of your center and also to make a decision about your cancellation policy.

8) Keep a record of cancellations. Write down on the cards of your clients the times they have canceled you. This way you will be prepared for following occasions: do you usually warn and reschedule or simply do not appear? Maybe some of you need to be more over them to finish closing the appointment and appreciate that personalized attention. And you will appreciate knowing if you are dealing with a client with a history of lack of commitment.

9) Share this information with your team. If you do not always manage the agenda, all your employees must know this record of cancellations so they know the extent the commitment of a client. This way they can assess the amount of steps to take to ensure they come. If you leave it annotated in the agenda, you will know that you must insist more calls and confirmation emails to have reduce your cancellation rate.

10) Request a partial payment or sign them up for a course of treatments. Establishing a small fee to reserve time may help reduce cancelations. If your client has already give you part of the cost, it will make it less likely that they will miss the appointment, at least without warning.

Do you use any of these methods in your business? Do you have another other tricks up your sleeve to avoid last-minute cancellations? Tell us how you manage ‘no shows’ at your beauty center so we can all learn and grow together!

The day to day of our salons focuses on skin care. How to organize a treatment program well? How many sessions will you need to correct and transform the different irregularities? How to propose a good home care program?

Our goal is to achieve perfect skin. The clients that attend our centres are very different, we can find the most neophyte user who lets himself be carried by all our advice to the most specialized and documented consumer. The latter sometimes do not know what to propose. For this reason, we have made a selection of the most frequent questions that customers usually ask in the aesthetic centres to share in this article.

1. EXFOLIATION?

When to do it? What is the best season of the year?

The exfoliation can be done throughout the year. The renewal cycle of the skin, turnover of the basal layer, is continued so to improve the performance of the cosmetic treatments, an exfoliation is always necessary. An important detail to keep in mind is the season of the year. If this exfoliation is done in very sunny months we will have to use less abrasive exfoliants, renew less frequently and always with a high protection to avoid the sun from damaging the skin. If this exfoliation is done in the autumn-winter, surely we can be more insistent so that the repairing, anti-stain and regeneration treatments at this time will be more suitable. There is no better, more efficient protection only station for a skin that will be unprotected.

Can it be done on all skin types?

We have already commented that all skins are renewed alone, their updating system is continued only occasionally slows down. The cosmetic exfoliation is a small help that accelerates the exit of cells. Among the different types of peeling, there are finer and more superficial, depending on the insistence of work (friction) we can exfoliate even the delicate skins. The average peels, enzymatic or glycolic, for a deeper and restorative renewal. Graduate the exfoliation to the skin type and you can renew any skin type.

How can an exfoliation help us?

As such, an exfoliant is a product that renews. Remove excess dead and keratinized cells from the corneal surface to make room for new ones. This allows the skin to show: fresher, more radiant, more oxygenated, healthy, uniform, clear, toned, vital, but above all more receptive. After a good exfoliation, any cosmetic that we apply has more opportunity to act and change the skin.

2. USE OF COSMETICS WHEN PREGNANT

The use of cosmetics on pregnant women generates many doubts, and it is possibly one of the best moments to take care of the skin. If we think that the body is taking care of conceiving a new life, sometimes the skin of oneself dehydrates, small wrinkles appear and if we talk about body, stretch marks and cellulite are difficult to treat.

¿ What treatments avoid? Any person who is pregnant or thinks they might be pregnant should avoid treatments of appliances, pure essential oils (essences in general). Any refreshing product such as menthol for tired legs should not be used.

Do not use anti-cellulite caffeine, being a stimulant and diuretic, tends to increase blood pressure and should be avoided during pregnancy, caffeine, in turn, increases urinary frequency and can decrease body fluids needed for the baby.

Decrease the use of vitamin A or retinol, decrease but can be used. Retinol or Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is not so quickly eliminated, so prudence is recommended for use during pregnancy.

The period of restrictions in pregnant and lactating mothers is up to 6 months of life of the baby. A moment in which, although we continue breastfeeding, we can now incorporate ourselves to the normal routine of the centre.

3. FATTY SKIN?

Another point of recurrent consultation is the case of oily skin. What do we do with them?

Oily skin is characterized mainly because its sebaceous secretion is increased. This sebum is sometimes altered and can lead to an infectious acne. If we understand that regulating the sebaceous gland is essential, the first thing we should think about is that:

1. The care must be daily, it is useless to come once a month if you do not take care of yourself at home. Daily hygiene, day and night, to be possible cleaning products but not astringent.

The seboregulator treatment should also be daily, preferably day and night. Its prolonged treatment will reeducate the sebaceous gland so that it produces less fat.

2. Avoid bacterial proliferation. This point is key and also has to be of continued application. The bactericidal products, which help to recover the cutaneous flora, fight against these microorganisms and avoid the infectious processes. Its use is essential and also daily. So, for a treatment of oily skin, with or without acne breakout, the important thing is the care followed at home and to plan some control cures in the cabin.

4. VITAMIN C?

Finally, we should not underestimate the grateful vitamin C. Power C with its extensive range, should its use be limited? Could many customers go through without using it on their skins?

Vitamin C is the vitamin of light. It is a powerful antioxidant and in times of seasonal changes and especially in extreme climates of heat is an excellent treatment. To the question of should, it be used in summer? the answer is affirmative. Vitamin C protects our cells from the damage caused by the sun, being a very good option in summer. And why is it limited at times? The form in which vitamin C occurs is ascorbic acid, it does not stop being a citric acid. At very high concentrations and if played with low pH, we could be talking about a renovating product rather than an antioxidant. Vitamin C Yes, the most concentrated and intensive formulas, we will reserve the use at night and always marking the frequency of use according to the skin.

The skin needs hydration! In the same way that we could not spend a day without drinking water. And, although the skin does not complain verbally, the manifestations are obvious: a dehydrated skin is synonymous with unhealthy skin.

In fact, did you know that 90% of the health of the skin depends on proper hydration? When the skin is dehydrated, many signs appear at the cutaneous level: lack of brightness, dull tone, devitalization, the appearance of wrinkles, loss of muscle tone, pigmentary disorders …

To avoid all these signs of dehydration it is important that the skin is always well hydrated, regardless of the season and the type of skin. In addition, it is through proper hydration that the skin can fight against the toxic effects of the environment and other types of external aggressions.

Each skin, a type of hydration

Dehydration is a consequence of the loss of ability to retain water from the skin. All types of skins encounter this situation due to external agents such as high temperatures, pollution, even cold.

However, it is true that dry skins due to their hydrodynamics tend to dehydrate much faster than oily skins. For this reason, in SKEYNDOR we have a moisturizing product that helps nourish each type of skin and achieve a healthy appearance. And it is that dehydrated skins are the most propitious to suffer the signs of age – Power Hyaluronic

Stress one of the greatest enemies of the skin. Lack of sleep, nerves, worries and tight schedules are all situations that are reflected in the face through lack of light, acne, ageing, bags or swelling.

As a therapist, you need to know how to instil in your clients the need to create a perfect combination of cosmetics and healthy lifestyle habits for their best skin.

– Mindfulness: very important. Being well with oneself helps to be in harmony with everything else. Meditating, looking for that moment to stop the mind directly influences a persons mood and makes us feel better both inside and out, and that is reflected in the skin. Help your clients to achieve an atmosphere of relaxation and well-being. Preparing your treatment rooms with aromatic candles, warm light, a relaxing aroma and pleasant music helps to quickly transport clients into a state of calmness.

– Eat well, eat healthy: We are what we eat. Many of the foods that make up our diet have a direct influence on our skin. Citrus fruits, nuts or vegetables are ideal for taking care of the skin from the inside, out. Remind your clients of the importance of combining body treatments such as Body Sculpt with balanced diets is also a great way for their whole body to feel rejuvenated and lighter.

– Move: dance, walk, jump … whatever! Moving is essential. Sweating eliminates toxins that the body accumulates throughout the day. At least 30 minutes of movement a day is enough to enjoy healthier skin.

Now it is in your hands. If your clients understand the importance of finding a cosmetic and lifestyle balance: the daily care of their skin with a personalised routine and the well-being of body and mind will have them glowing in no time. Because what we feel on the inside is reflected on the outside.

Why are cosmeceuticals more than cosmetics?

A few years ago the world of cosmetics took a step forward with the birth of cosmeceuticals. Products that not only embellish the skin but also offer a prolonged treatment and contribute to improving skin health with a high concentration of active ingredients.

The skin is an organ capable of preventing the entry of harmful microorganisms, but also of absorbing those substances that are beneficial to it. Beyond cosmetics, many medications are applied topically on the skin to be treated.

The main difference between cosmetics and cosmeceuticals is in the amount and concentration of active ingredients in their composition and the ability to penetrate the different layers of the skin.

Cosmeceuticals, are more potent than traditional cosmetics to contain a larger amount of biologically active ingredients and at levels much higher concentration levels.

Thanks to these ingredients, cosmeceuticals can act beyond the outer layer of the skin, the most superficial part of the epidermis, and are able to intervene in the structure and functioning of the skin. Thus, they are highly effective cosmetic product that provide visible results in both short term and long term.

Although cosmeceutical is often associated with treatments to improve the signs of ageing (spots, wrinkles, sagging, dehydration, etc.), they can also be used to improve acne, oily skin, hyperpigmentation, the texture of the skin or the size of the pores.

The cosmeceutical ranges by SKEYNDOR

At SKEYNDOR we strive to always offer the best dermo-cosmetic solutions for the different needs of the skin. Therefore, we have a wide variety of cosmeceuticals in our lines for facial care that can be combined with their respective facial treatments to maximize results.

Power Retinol, for example, is formulated with a high concentration of pure retinol and, therefore, offer a very satisfactory improvement in spots and wrinkles.

The Power Hyaluronic line, on the other hand, has a high content of hyaluronic acid of very low and very high molecular weight that achieves an immediate intensive hydration even in the most dehydrated skins.

In the case of the Power C + cosmeceuticals, these are products with a very powerful antioxidant combination thanks to their high absorption concentration in vitamin C.

Dermapeel PRO, is formulated with α-hydroxy acids and biological peptides to achieve a renewal of the outer layer of the skin. These cosmeceuticals for home use are the perfect complement to the innovative Dermapeel PRO facial treatment .

Individualized recommendations

Precisely because of the particularities of cosmeceuticals, these are products that we should recommend to our clients in a completely personalized way and after a detailed diagnosis of the type and condition of the skin.  It is essential to insist on the importance of applying cosmeceuticals in the appropriate way, respecting the recommended frequency of use and following the care and precise precautions.

Every skin is different and therefore, every skin has different needs. When our clients want a specific treatment, not only do we have to understand how they want to improve their skin, but also what their skin needs. Treatment products can be presented in several ways (gel and cream, for example, or emulsion and cream), and provide the same benefits. The question is to understand what kind of texture each skin demands, not only so that your client feels more comfortable, but so their skin takes maximum advantage of what you offer them.

– Fluid and unctuous creams, and oils are recommended for mature and/or dry skin. Nourishing and comfortable textures will help to relieve the sensation of tightness and itching.
– Fluids, gels and emulsions for combination and oily skin. To treat without adding shine or clogging pores.
– Cream textures with light finishes will be the best friend of normal skins with a tendency to become mixed, to avoid glare but at the same time provide what they need.

Weather & Seasons
In addition to understanding what texture each type of skin needs, we must take into account the weather and season. We would recommend a cream during the colder months – which has good coverage and provides a feeling of protection and comfort – and a gel or fluid during the summer season – easier to absorb and offer a fresh sensation.

And remember, it does not matter what texture the treatment has as long as its right for your client’s skin.

For a more accurate recommendation, you can count on My Skin Diagnosis. An exclusive system of personalized facial diagnosis created by Skeyndor for professionals that will help you to attract and retain clients by tracking their Skeyndor results, as well as give a differentiated service from the competition.

Let’s talk about social media and business.

Companies now have a more defined and marked presence on social media. In fact, those businesses that do not have social profiles are beginning to become obsolete because … what does a client do when they want to know more about a product or business? Research online. Where they will find a wide variety of profiles with information, multimedia content and a community with the same interests and/or doubts.

That is why we recommend that your aesthetic centre has a form of social media. Whether it be Instagram, Facebook or even just a website. A digital marketing platform will ensure your business will get:

Visibility: thanks to social media and a website you can make sure your salon goes beyond the surrounding streets and your current clients, to be known by a larger audience. Not only will your customers or people in the neighbourhood know about your existence, but also anyone interested in a particular treatment that your salon offers.

Increase visits/sales: more visibility, more sales. Cause-effect. If your beauty salon or spa is known by more people, you can engage to increase your number of clients and gain new traffic.

Community: little by little you will form a community of followers that will share tastes and interests. Social networks will allow you to maintain a daily and direct relationship with them, which will be loyal over time.

Renew or die: having a social media not only focuses on your customers, it’s also a great tool to be in contact with other salons, the brands you use or other professionals. Being informed of the latest news, products and trends in treatments and actives can be easier thanks to Instagram and Facebook.

Feedback: It will be much easier for you to know firsthand the comments and criticisms made by your customers. Because one thing is certain, we all find it easier to give our opinion behind a screen. The shower of comments will be bigger and this will only help you improve and strengthen the weak points of your salon.

Having a presence on social media can bring many benefits to your business, giving your salon or spa a much greater presence beyond its physical space. Of course, we must make sure we are publishing real content and respecting the community.

Tips to grow your social media:

  • After a salon treatment encourage your clients to like and review you online
  • Engage and comment on your community’s posts and photos
  • Upload content as much as you can! Whether it is a regram/ repost from a client or our social network, a snap of a new product, your favourite product, the salon or someone enjoying a treatment. Consistent content will help your clinic and social network stay relevant

And remember, if you need Skeyndor social media content contact your Skeyndor Representative to show you how to repost & gain access to all our images and videos.

Mesotherapy treatment is a non-invasive ‘virtual needle’ technique that uses multiple currents with the purpose of introducing cosmetic actives, plant extracts, vitamins, marine ingredients, etc., through the different layers of the skin. Originally created for medicinal purposes Skeyndor have adopted the Nobel Prizing winning technology.

The mesotherapy technology used by Skeyndor it the Mesoinfusion DCS equipment with MesoScience Treatments. It generates a series of electromagnetic impulses that create “electrophoresis” in the tissue, allowing the penetration of the active elements through the membrane of the cells. This action facilitates the free passage of the active substances to the interior of the cell.

MesoInfusion DCS  has four currents that act in synergy so that the treatment results are even faster, intense and spectacular.

  1. The first current, Activating, is a current that decreases the resistance of the tissues to the passage of the current, vascularizes and recovers the metabolic activity.
  2. The second, Hidroelectrophoresis, is a current that increases the percutaneous penetration of mesoconcentrated assets intercellularly.
  3.  Electroporation, third current, increases the cellular absorption of the mesoconcentrated active transcellularly.
  4. Finally, the fourth current, Cryotherapy, enhances the cellular bioavailability of assets.

All this makes it possible to strengthen elastin fibres, stimulate the production of collagen, fight free radicals and stimulate cell activity. Mesotherapy helps the skin appear firmer, younger and expression lines are reduced.

At a corporal level, it improves and visibly reduces cellulite. The skin regains its elasticity, thickness and reduces cellulite nodules.

Following the science of molecular cosmetics, Skeyndor has created a new generation of mesoconcentrates. The difference, the most effective penetration techniques to maximize the penetration of assets. According to the problem to be treated, the firm proposes 4 different treatments:

–  Mesofiller for the treatment of wrinkles and expression lines that replenish and fill vertical wrinkles.

–  Mesobright for the treatment of spots that brings luminosity and unifies skin tone.

–  Meso BT-Lift reaffirmation and remodelling treatment to recover the volumetry of the face.

– And finally, Mesoslim reducing an anti-cellulite treatment.

On a daily basis, our skin faces two big enemies: environmental pollution and the lack of oxygen that this causes.

For this reason, we have created a new range of anti-pollution cosmetics which aims to protect and revitalize skin that lives in urban environments – Power Oxygen.

All Power Oxygen cosmetics include a high concentration of active ingredients that act against pollutants and free radicals. They also reinforce the skin’s protective barrier and increase its oxygen levels.

We have designed specific homecare products to maximize the results of the Power Oxygen Facial with a serum and anti-pollution creams. Applied with the Skeyndor Power Oxygen massage techniques, this is an easy step by step ritual that you can show your clients to enhance the Oxygen’s oxygenating and purifying effect at home.

The Power Oxygen At Home Ritual:

1) The preparation of the serum. To start, you have to apply a small amount of the City Pollution Barrier – Boosting serum (1 to 3 pumps) in your hand.

Next, it is essential to lightly rub the serum with the fingertips until all the microspheres it contains are broken. Only then will we ensure that the different active ingredients can penetrate the skin and, therefore, get the maximum benefit.

Finally, the product should be applied,  with smooth movements, from chin to cheekbones and between eyebrows following the hair, to finish in the neck area. You should also tell your clients to press their face lightly with their fingers for greater comfort and will help stimulate their skin.

2)  Purification phase. Once the serum is distributed, it is a matter of working different points on the face to achieve greater detoxification.

  •  First, a client has to prepare the face with a cleansing massage by emptying their hands over the face, face and neck.
  •  Then, circular pressures with a draining effect should be started on the forehead. This step is important to perform 3 to 5 times and then they slide their hands from the temples to the clavicle.
  •  Follow circular movements around the eye contour to finish down the neck.
  •  To finish, they have to make sustained pressure in the area of the lips to improve blood flow and decrease small wrinkles.

3) Oxygenation phase. It is time to apply the City Pollution Block Cream + O2 or City Pollution Block Gel Cream + O2, depending on the type of skin. This will stimulate and activate the circulation of the skin and provide more oxygen to the tissues. For this, generalized pinching should be done all over the face, especially on the forehead area.

Next, a client should use a smooth friction that aligns the contour of the eyes, the eyebrows, the forehead and the furrows that go from the nose to the corner of the lips.

Thanks to this Power Oxygen at home ritual, the skin will be more protected against pollution, but also more oxygenated, purified and radiant.

The Oxygen & Pollution Block Facial Treatment

In order to maximize the benefits of Power Oxygen anti-pollution homecare products, we recommend combining them with Oxygen (O2) Skin Advanced Program & Pollution Block facial treatment.

This allows us to achieve, in a very short time, a healthier appearance of the skin, as well as a greater luminosity and vitality. In the clinical studies carried out, an improvement of the pigmentation, the redness, the roughness, the hydration and the size of the pores, as well as a reduction of the impurities and the comedones were also observed.

The treatment Oxygen (O2) Skin Advanced Program & Pollution Block is indicated for skins from the age of 20 that coexists in urban environments and that are especially asphyxiated, stressed and lack oxygen.

A good rest and adequate diet are also necessary to ensure skin can defend itself from external aggressions such as sun exposure, tobacco and environmental pollution.

Why are loyalty programs important?

Loyalty systems are becoming more and more common in the beauty industry. As salons, clinics and spas collect data about their clients and then send them interesting content that they think will engage and appeal to their clients this, in turn, should allow for deeper relationships to be forged.

It isn’t an easy endeavour to establish new clients for your business, in fact on average it costs 10 times more for your business to find new customers then it is to retain exisiting ones. Therefore it is important that you are able to keep those clients loyal and engaged.

Plan your own loyalty program

The first step is to decide if you really need a loyalty program, and if you really have the resources (time, staff, etc.) to manage it properly. It doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does require some effort to start up and maintain. If the answer is yes, we recommend that you follow these steps and ask yourself the following questions to implement it correctly:

1. Who are my clients? What communication channels do they use to inform themselves (Email, SMS, Whatsapp, facebook, ordinary mail …)?

2. What information can I give you that interests you? News, promotions, invitations to “beautyparties”…?

3. How do I collect the data I need to send clients content?

a.Do I ask them directly and personally when they come to the centre?

b. Do I ask for them in a section on my website?

c. Do I create a contest in which to participate have to leave some contact information?

The answers to these questions will help you to create your own custom loyalty program. It is ok to start you loyalty program from scratch it will take time to build, but by updating/expanding the database and with feedback from your clients on how to improve. You should be able to grow a powerful database that keeps your business growing.

If you have any questions, you can contact us here.

And remember…

In order to make use of the data you collect, you can have a look at the Data Protection Law to be clear on what is permitted. Hall & Willcox has provided a concise summary of the laws here.
